I seriously doubt that you can compile Apple's gdb version on a Linux host without a big effort.
Most probably you can use Linux gdb to do it. Never tested it :)

I have a Mac OS X guest running in VMware on a Linux host. Is it possible to find/compile Apple's gdb on Linux so I can debug the OS X kernel from a Linux host?

Look at the tar.gz. It's the complete source code.

Hi!

Can you tell me if there is a way to download this kernel source all together instead of a file at a time.

-Thanks

Hello,

Thanks, although it's not cutting edge stuff hehehehe I just got the pieces together ;)

Just been playing around with it and apart the total virtual machine hang (if I take too much time into the debugger or do nothing inside the VM - with the debugger it should be expected following Apple docs, but the idle seems strange) it's working very nice. It allowed me to clear that there's no new anti-debugging into Little Snitch kernel module and to start confirming some theories I had about it's inner working!

If you run into any trouble just ask :)

Hi!

Really, this post is the best piece of info about Mac OS X and reverse engineering I've read for months (and the tcp_connect trick is pure genius)!
I will try to setup a vm ASAP.
congrats!
